I am not good at studying and doing courses, what if I find it too hard?  Is there extra help?

If you’re concerned about finding the Triple P course challenging – don’t worry – there’s plenty of support available. The program is designed to be straightforward and user friendly. For those attending face-to-face sessions, the format includes ample time for questions and brainstorming.

You’ll also be given a workbook that serves as a reference guide for you to revisit whenever you need to.

Our family has experienced domestic violence and/or trauma.  Is this course appropriate for us?

If your family has experienced domestic violence or trauma, the Triple P Level 4 course can definitely support you, however, for more targeted support there is a Level 5 specialist option. This advanced level focuses specifically on domestic violence and trauma.

Level 5 requires additional engagement and training to complete, but it provides more specialised help for these complex challenges. If you think Level 5 might be appropriate for your situation, discuss with your Triple P provider to explore the options to best support you.

Does the course material cover cultural issues for ATSI participants?

Yes, the Triple P program does address cultural issues for Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) participants.

At Level 4, Triple P provides a specific set of resources for First Nations families. These recourses are designed to be culturally appropriate and safe, ensuring the program respects and incorporates cultural values and practices.

Does the course include any religious/Christian teachings?

No, the Triple P program does not include any religious teachings, and is not affiliated in any way with religious organisations, and does not instruct or compel any participant in a religious matter.

Triple P focuses on providing culturally supportive guidance that respects and accommodates the diverse backgrounds and beliefs of all families.

Do I get a certificate at the end?

Yes, you will receive a certificate at the completion of the Triple P program if you achieve 100% attendance and demonstrate good engagement. The certificate is recognised by the New South Wales legal system.

Is the course for parents with children of all ages, or just teenagers?  Are there specific courses for teenagers (for example)?

The program is designed to support families with children of all ages, from birth to 18 years.

Triple P Standard is focused on children from 0 to 12 years, providing the strategies for early childhood and middle childhood parenting challenges.

Triple P Teen is designed for parents of teenagers and young adults, covering ages 13 to 18, and address unique issues and dynamics of parenting adolescents.

Both courses are available in the Dubbo region.

My child has ADHD/ ODD/autism/ learning disabilities (dyslexia etc)/intellectual disabilities/depression/anxiety (and other mental health issues).  Does the course include information for any of these issues?

While the course covers general parenting strategies, facilitators are trained to offer additional support tailored to specific needs. If your child has challenges, the facilitator can help you explore further training and resources relevant to those issues. As a trained counsellor, and family therapist, I can provide individual guidance to help you access specialised education to support your unique family requirements.

Is there information about how to handle issues with social media and its effect on children?

Yes, the Triple P program addresses the impact of social media on children and helps support parents in making informed decisions about how to manage their children’s social media engagement.

Triple P focuses on building a strong foundation of support and enhancing relationships, which can help make difficult conversations about social media, a little easier to navigate. The course works in partnership with professionals who specialise in the impact of the digital world, ensuring that you have expert knowledge wherever needed.
